Toyota GT86 CR

Yes,that's right.i caught the Toyobaru fever myself and have been keeping up with the upcoming Scion FR-S/Toyota GT86/Subaru BRZ.which is one of the most ambitious projects that Toyota has done recently,not to mention more or less proof that ToMoCo still has balls and hasn't forgotten their roots.

this sports car was the brain child of non other than Akio Toyoda,the current CEO of Toyota,who wanted to make a car that would be really fun to drive,not to mention something that you could beat on the race track.the GT86 is also the tribute for one of the most iconic (albeit overrated as well) models ever made,the 1983-87 Corolla AE86,which was the last of the RWD Corollas before the Corolla became a former shadow of itself.not to mention the last of the affordable RWD 4 seater passenger cars ever made.

Onto the car itself,i thought it would be appropiate that i would pay a fitting tribute to Toyota's racing past and this is what i've come up with,this is the Toyota GT86 CR (meaning both Club Racer and Castrol Racing edition because of the two tone stripes reminiscent of cars like the Castrol Supra,Celica GT4 and the Corolla WRC cars)the brakes on this beast have been upgraded to 12 inch Brembos with slotted and drilled discs all around,the suspension is fully adjustable in both the front and rear with stiffer springs.the body itself has been lightened to around 500lbs from its original weight of 2,800 lbs (some estimate it weights around 2,900,others that it weighs 2,700lbs,we won't really know until it comes out this Spring simultaneously).power wise,it has a Turbocharger kit,a racing exhaust system with unequal headers to give it the trademark Boxer sound (although the car has a higher note than the famed low grunt you'd hear in a WRX STI),forged internals and a HKS racing computer,all giving it a healthy 350hp to the rear wheels,the rear end is a Quaife LSD which will plant that hp to the ground.

So my opinion on the Toyobaruion is this: kudos on Toyota for not forgetting the enthusiasts and for proving that you still make fun cars,also good on the joint venture with Subaru,which is a blessing for both since it gives both the chance to have a RWD sports car in your lineup(although the Americans will get it as the Scion FR-S) and i already have a bad feeling this will either make or break your reputation as one of the leading car manufactuers in the world besides GM and VW.the thing that will screw it up a bit is the price at around 23,000,even more ridiculous is the fact its a direct opponent to the Mazda Miata,Ford Mustang V6 and the Hyundai Genesis coupe 20T.unless you guys offer a Turbo Boxer,the Mustang and the Genesis will murder them in sales.i have mixed doubts about its success and its very future altogether.my message to Toyota is this: for the love of God, Toyota Motor Corporation PLEAASE DON'T FUCK THIS UP!!!!! ;___;
