80's Corolla Coupes

a AE85 Toyota Corolla coupe and a AE92 Corolla GTS Coupe in the same driveway. both owned by a neighbor of mine.

this pic has a bit of a symbolic theme to it. it was a sneak peak of things to come when the Corolla in the mid 80'si converted most of its fleet to Front Wheel drive (with the exception of the coupe, which retained its RWD chassis until 1987)

the 6th gen Corolla coupe succeeded the "Hachiroku/Hachigo" and onwards onto the 7th AE101 Corolla Levin/Sprinter and 8th gen AE111 Sprinter/Levin, which was the last of the Corolla 2 door coupes, although the latter two sold outside the US Market (if you live in Canada, you can legally import a 7 or 8th gen model with the 20V Silver top 4 cylinder).

the only model that sold stateside was the Trueno with the retractable headlights.

the white Corolla was the only FF Corolla coupe variant that sold in the US, which in its GT-S Trim had the 4-AGE dual cam engine, it was basically a Corolla Levin with a Sprinter Trueno front end grafted onto it.
